This guide will assist in the replacement of the stock single z motor in favor of independent z motors for all 3 lead screws. This will allow for z tilt adjust to be utilized as well as additional fine tuning of the stock bed tramming.

## Required Components

* 2 printed front z adapter plates (1 normally printed for the right side 1 mirrored for the left) recommended to print part in ASA-CF
* 1 printed rear z adapter plate recommended to print part in ASA-CF
* 2 printed front motor mounts recommended to print part in ASA-CF
* 1 printed rear motor mount plate recommended to print part in ASA-CF
* 1 FR, FL, RR, RL riser for the base to give clearance for motors under printer. Recommended to print in at least PETG
* 3 5mm to 5mm shaft couplers
* 3 NEMA 17 stepper motors 42x42x34mm 1.8deg pitch (Strongly encourage to be the same manufacture and model for all 3.)
* 2 additional TMC2209 or equivalent stepper motor drivers to drive 2 additional motors
* 1 replacement PSU to accommodate the extra power requirements of additional z motors (Recommended Mean Well LRS-350-24 24V 350.4W 14.6 Amp Single Output Switchable Power)
* 2 M6x10mm screws to affix z adapter plates to 2 rear stock foot mount locations
* 1 M5x10mm screw and 1 fender washer for rear motor mount.
* 3 M3x6mm screws for rear mount.
* 6 M4x6mm screws for motor mount to adapter plate
* 24 M3x10mm screws to hold base together
* Tools required, various sizes of Allen wrenches, Phillips screw driver, if making new cables you will need crimpers capable of crimping JST connections.

## Steps to replacing single z motor to triple z motors

Remove the glass top cover and place it to the side.

 1. Unload filament if loaded
 2. Remove the glass top cover and place it to the side.
 3. Place printer on it’s back preferably on a towel or other soft material to protect the work surface and printer from damage
 4. Use a 2mm Allen wrench to loosen the 10 screws securing the bottom cover
 5. Use a Phillips screw driver to remove the 4 stock feet from the base.
 6. Use a 2mm Allen wrench to remove the 2 screws securing the belt tensioner and remove the Z belt.
 7. Use a 2mm Allen wrench to loosen the 4 screws securing the Z-axis motor. Then, remove the old Z-axis motor.
 8. Remove the set screws using a 2mm Allen wrench and then remove the Philips head screws using a Phillips screw driver from all 3 stock lead screws, and then remove the pulleys.
 9. Install front right and front left adapter plates using M3x6 screws and nuts, and rear z adapter plate using 3 M3x6 screws as well as 1 M5x10 screw with fender washer and nut
10. Install 3 5mm to 5mm couplers to stepper motor shafts.
11. Place M4 nuts in recess in each motor mount.
12. Install Motor to motor mount with M3 screws making sure your wiring will clear the mount.
13. Attach motor assemblies to lead screws and motor adapter plates then use M4x6 screws to attach motor mount to motor adapter plates and then tighten the set screws on the couplers.
14. Depending on your main board of choice you can connect the new stepper drivers to your
     main board in the slots available per manufacturer documents.
15. Connect the stepper motors to the main board in the corresponding ports
16. If you haven’t already, assemble your base with 24 M3x10 screws and nuts then attach to the base of your printer with 2 M6x10 screws in the front 2 feet locations and 8 M3x8 screws around the perimeter locations.
17. Edit `printer.cfg` to add your newly installed stepper motors with the corresponding pins and settings per your board pin outs. (We may have sample configs based on your board of choice)
18. Test and profit.
